"We have finally finished the construction process for our basement remodel in Woodbury. It was a long process for us because we try to carefully think out everything before we start out.
We wanted to choose a construction company that would build a basement that didn't feel like a basement. The space needed to be comfortable, warm inviting, and elegant. We took time to look at the remodeled basements of several friends that had chosen other builders. Based on that experience, we decided that our best bet was with Derrick since we are so happy with our nine-year-old home.
We made the right decision. Our basement turned out beautifully. We love it! Everything from the in-floor heating to the custom built-ins is right on target. It really isn't a basement to us anymore. It's an extension of our home.
Things started out on the right track with Carl the framer. Carl really put some thought into interpreting the architectural design. He recommended changing ceiling heights and adding arches. He had a lot of excellent ideas. Who knows what the space would have looked like it it were built exactly as planned?
From that point on, everything went smoothly with Brent at the helm. Brent was always there to talk to, always willing to help, and always getting things done. He was a pleasure to work with.
I can't begin to name all of those involved that were a pleasure to work with, but two come to mind. Gary the electrician and Jeff the cabinetmaker really went the extra mile. Gary and his son helped out a lot with the special lighting and cabling for the home theater. Jeff and his team did a superb job on the entertainment center. I promised to give him any help I can with his own setup.
